IN THE GLASS: “Black Shadow” is a great wine to pair with a meal, especially spicy foods. It is intensely dark and fruity, but at the same time, gentle and smooth on the palate. Easy to drink and enjoy by itself, or along with all types of cheeses and breads. A great wine for a picnic.

ABOUT THIS WINE: The 2017 vintage of “Black Shadow” is an estate semi-sweet red wine made from a blend of black grapes all grown on our family farm: 85% Noiret™ grape, 10% Chambourcin grape, and 5% Kee Wah Din. ‘Noiret’™ was developed at the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station, Cornell University as a disease-resistant cold climate grape suitable for the Finger Lakes Region and sustainable growing methods.
All the grapes in this wine are hand-pruned and hand-picked, which contributes to the exceptional quality of this wine. We have matched our growing techniques and wine processing methods together to make a wine which is so rich in color, it is considered a “black” wine. Even though the wine is full-bodied, unlike other black wines, this wine has a fine, velvety tannin structure, a jammy, fruit-forward flavor profile, and moderate alcohol of 12%.
