ABOUT THIS WINE: The 2017 vintage of “Black Shadow” is an estate semi-sweet red wine made from a blend of black grapes all grown on our family farm: 85% Noiret™ grape, 10% Chambourcin grape, and 5% Kee Wah Din. ‘Noiret’™ was developed at the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station, Cornell University as a disease-resistant cold climate grape suitable for the Finger Lakes Region and sustainable growing methods.
All the grapes in this wine are hand-pruned and hand-picked, which contributes to the exceptional quality of this wine. We have matched our growing techniques and wine processing methods together to make a wine which is so rich in color, it is considered a “black” wine. Even though the wine is full-bodied, unlike other black wines, this wine has a fine, velvety tannin structure, a jammy, fruit-forward flavor profile, and moderate alcohol of 12%.
